Many pool pumps are not 3 phase, which you need to have for a VFD drive. Secondly, and probably most importantly, do not use a pool pump for beer, it is not sanitary or food grade, and will likely cause you more problems and cost(bad beer) than just getting the right pump to start with.

I think he's talking about the VFD, not the pump.
If the VFD can handle your pump--most VFDs are rated by horsepower--then it's just another VFD. You'll likely need to put it in a wash-down rated housing, and be sure it has enough cooling.
VFDs are getting cheaper every day, so re-cycling one vs buying new might not make sense.Last edited by TGTimm; 10-24-2017, 02:17 PM.Timm Turrentine

NEW VFDs on clearance sale.
Great timing
We got a pallet load of VFDs from a local motor shop that just went out of business. They are a couple of years old but all brand new and still in the original boxes.
We are passing along the savings a clearing them out.
Please note the following: We only offer a 90 day warranty on clearance items. There are no mill certificates for clearance items

Yes, I'll be using a food grade stainless pump.
As for the VFD, it will most likely be new since the prices are reasonable.Originally posted by TGTimm View PostI think he's talking about the VFD, not the pump.
