Hey all. Just finishing our piecemeal 7 bbl system. I need some advise in sizing pumps for our system. Any standard size for 7 bbl systems?

Hi,
I'm in a similar situation with cobbing together a 10 bb system and am trying to determine the size and also number of pumps needed for brewing, transfer to FVs, CIP, etc. Is it common to have 1 portable pump on a cart to handle all of it?
Cheers,

Hi Adam,
I have see a few breweries managing to run with only one pump but it is difficult and slows things down quite a bit. You will probably want at least one brew house pump and one portable pump. I would suggest 1 HP for the brewhouse pump and 1 1/2 HP for the portable pump.Your CPE Systems Team!

I would go with two portable pumps, and trust me, it's worth buying new if that's what it takes to get them with interchangeable seal kits.
Get a VFD for at least one of them, and it's worth getting a separate sparge pump IMHO.Sent from my Microsoft Bob
Beer is like porn. You can buy it, but it's more fun to make your own.
