  • Internal Vs External boiler

Anyone has had experience with these two type of boilers?

I'm quoting a new 15BBL equipment and I am being offered both types of boilers. The external boiler is WAY more expensive than the internal(External is about $25000 and the calandria is about $7500) , but i'm not sure if it is worth the extra 300%.

I would appreciate comments of those who have experience with both type of boilers, what are the advantages/disdvantages of each boiling system. and which do you prefer?

    Cheers!

      Clarify

Cavanzo, by my undrestanding a Calandria is essentially a type of " enhancement " to your boiling vessel which gives you better efficiency and response for the duty being performed. You still require an external source to supply steam, so as thus the Calandria is not exactly a " boiler." When we say boiler in the USA we generally mean a machine that generates either hot water or steam.
      Hope this helps.

Right… every calandria I have ever seen requires an external steam source, i.e. "boiler". Not sure I would bother with a calandria in a brewhouse smaller than 30bbl myself, but to each his own
