We are starting to send our hop pellets off for testing for total oils. (our current supplier does not offer this analysis.) We hope this will help dial in our dry hopping.
The last of our cascade 2013 crop tested at 1.40 mL/100 g total oil. the composition was 61.19% myrcene, 19.42% humulene, 9.95% caryophyllene, 8.06% farnesene, .58% geraniol, and 0.78% linalool. I will honestly have to do some research as to what flavor profiles these different oils contribute.
We will continue to test our hops going forward. I was wondering if this is a fairly typical total oil analysis for cascade? It would be helpful to know for forecasting hop needs on future hop contracts.
thanks,
sam
