  • Burners for a 1.5hl system?

    Hi All,

Well, the brewing experiment is running great! We can't make enough...

So, we're upgrading our system to do 1.5 hectoliters at a time (about 50 gallons I guess?)

At this point, we've sourced a brewing system, but need to find some gas burners that are up to the job of boiling 150 liters of wort.

    Can anyone recommend anything?

    Thanks!

I would consider switching to electric. Assuming that you are brewing indoors, you will have significant makeup air and exhaust requirements with propane or natural gas.

In a 1.5Bbl system, 2-3 5500W 240V elements in each of the HLT and kettle should cover you. A properly certified control panel will cost you but can be built simply enough (minimum bells and whistles).

We started on propane and switched to electric for our 1Bbl pilot system. The production system utilizes a propane powered steam boiler (due to our rural location).

        burners.

Check Glaciertanks.com We started with a 2 BBL system and used one of their burners. Worked just fine with no ventilation requirements. However we do have 20ft cielings. Cheers
