Hello there everybody,
My name is Alex and this is my first post. I am currently studying to become a master brewer and working part time at a consultancy company. As a part of my studies and work I am currently carrying on an optimization project on a brewery, evaluating different opportunities for savings across the whole facilities.
I am a little bit stuck at the moment, with energy cost calculations, specifically talking about cooling. We are considering increasing the cold water tank temperature set point by a couple of degrees but I am however having some issues puting a cost (or saving) on that. I do not have the COP of the cooling plant and the only information provided for the cooling equipment is the refrigeration power.
I just tried dividing the cooling energy needed by an assumed COP of 4 but the energy costs I am getting are way unreasonable.
Anybody that has some input on this or how to calculate energy demands/capacities for cooling?
Regards,
Alex
