  • Steam valves on skid

We just took delivery of our 3.5 bbl 2 vessel steam skid and found that the skid did not come equipped with the steam control valves used to allow and interrupt steam entering the jackets on the vessels. This isn't the end of the world for us but being new to the business I figured it was an easy question to post here. Do other new steam systems ship with the steam control valves either installed on in packaging so all the boiler tech needs to do it plumb up the steam and condensation lines to the skid? Or do you rely on your steam boiler tech to acquire and install the steam valve system when plumbing the boiler in?

    Thanks!

When you buy a boiler you will probably have the chance to get all sorts of mandatory/optional accessories with it from the manufacturer such as feedwater system, blowdown, exhaust dampers, all that fun stuff. They will probably not even offer solenoids as they have to be sized to fit your steam lines and your equipment - so it will either be on your brewing equipment company to provide them or the steam installer.

Our boiler arrived a few weeks prior to the skid showing up. We were just surprised to find the steam control valves not installed on the skid itself or included and wondered if it was by design to not include it because of the variety of boilers and infrastructures in which a skid would be installed.
