  • Ice Bank users:

I have been using an ice bank (aka sweetwater system) here at a new installation and have had problems getting it to chill water down to 32-33 degrees F. The ice seems to have built up unevenly and so far, I've moved the sensor bulb to a different location in the tank and that just seems to have moved the ice build up to different spots within the tank. Today, I put in a submersible pump I had lying around (fish-tank style power head) and it sucks water from the bottom of the tank, where the ice doesn't seem to build up and shoots it across the top of the tank; where the ice has formed a block.
Anybody have some clever solutions/experiences to share? joe at pearlstreetbrewery dot com

I have seen ice builders with air pumps forcing bubbles from perforated tubes throughout the water area. This turbulence keeps colder pockets from making ice blocks. Nothing political this post...
