  • One large fermenter or several smaller ones?

Hi, we're setting up a 600 liter brewery down in Argentina. The equipment has now been built, but trying to decide on what size fermenters to buy to get us going. We've decided to use plastic conical fermenters to start with for budget constraints, but deciding on buying single batch size 570 liters size fermenters or splitting them up into smaller 295 liters or 200 sizes..
    Does anyone have any recommendations?

You would want your smallest fermenter to be able to hold a full 600L batch. That fermenter should be about 25% larger for head space and fermentation losses. So 750L would be about the right size. You will want bright tanks of about 15% over size or 700L. Is is very common practice to use double or triple size fermenters, so 1500L or 2250-2500L would not be out of the question.

    Good luck.
