  • Fermcap and dry hopping

We've always used fermcap for the most part in the kettle to control boilovers.

About 3 months ago I FINALLY started using it as it was intended in the fermenter to hopefully improve my head retention at the tap (which I believe it has).

Anyways...to make a long story short, I used it for the first time on a beer that I dry hopped. Usually filtration has been a problem with the beers Ive dryhopped, but not this past one with the fermcap. Apon opening the manway when the level dropped I noticed none of the usual residual hop particles floating on the surface.

Guess it makes sense, the lack of surface tension because of the fermencap makes it dificult for the hop particals to float on the surface.

Just thought I'd share a probably obvious 1 time observation with everyone...I'll let ya know what happens with our pale ale coming up in a week or so
